Recently, Mayor Soliman visited the Joliet Montessori School in Crest Hill for a ribbon cutting. This wasn't an ordinary ribbon cutting though. This ribbon cutting involved the Montessori School's students who worked hard to raise money in order to bring a new Little Free Library location to the school and community. Little Free Library is a 501 nonprofit organization that aims to inspire a love of reading, build community, and spark creativity by fostering neighborhood book exchanges around the world. More than 75,000 public public book exchanges are registered with the organization and branded as Little Free Libraries.
Currently, the Crest Hill community has two Little Free Library locations, one at the Chaney-Monge School at 400 Elsie Avenue and now at the Joliet Montessori School at 1612 Root Street.
